Great hostel for a cheap price. The beds and pods were really comfy and came with good plug sockets. The room was nice and cold already so didn't need the fan in the pod. The WiFi was also good and had no trouble with it dropping out. The balcony was also nice and had a nice view of Kandy city centre. Only a 10 minute walk to the station which was ideal and 15 to the city centre. Good hostel overall.

I booked this hostel via booking.com. Based on the address, I had problem locating it as the odd numbers of the road run towards the Kandy Lake area. A tuk tuk driver was kind enough to tell me that it was located in the opposite direction about 5 min walk from the Kandy train and bus station further down from the Kandy Post Office. I stayed at this hostel for 2 nights and came here to stay for another night when I returned from Ella and Nuwara Eliya. At about 800 plus rupees a night and with air conditioner, I found it reasonably cheap and comfortable to stay in this hostel. The `capsule' dormitory reminded me of a similar concept hostel I stayed while in Osaka. With a curtain, there is much privacy in the cubicle and sockets for you to charge your camera or hand phones. I preferred the bed beside the air conditioner as the heat in Kandy in Mar was unbearable and terribly hot. The cozy air slipped through my bunk curtain instantly cooled down my body temperature. I slept with my head near the curtain and found it cozy and relaxed. The cool environment induced sleep easily and despite the movement of other guests I did not feel disturbed and was fast asleep after a cold bath. The bed lights are bright enough to read your articles and make your research before you set out for your exploration of Kandy. Bathroom is clean and the staff constantly came in to clean up the area. There is both hot and cold bath. Guests are not allowed to wear their footwear inside the room and are to put them in a cabinet outside the dormitory area. The guesthouse is conveniently located within 5 min walking distance from the train and bus station. I was the first at the queue at the train station to buy the train ticket to Ella. From the bus station, it was so convenient for me to board a bus to Dambulla and returned. The attractions in Kandy are also within walking reach from the hostel. There are also big supermarkets like Food City, Aprico and Keels and many eateries nearby. I particularly like a traditional food center near Aprico Supermarket where I can indulge in the local delicacies (dosai, vada, string hoppers, etc) at the local prices. Breakfast is not inclusive and the premises is monitored and guarded by CCTV. At times, the guesthouse is fully booked and it is prudent to book in advance via booking.com. When I returned from Ella, I was told there was no bed and I had to search for another hostel. Generally, the hostel is quite new and modern and most important it is air-conditioned.

Pros: Good location for the bus and train station. Cheap The communal areas are nice Cons: The ‘capsules’ are in the basement of this property with no windows meaning that the room is fousty and smells (an automatic air freshener goes off every so often to try and mask the smell) along with potentially 19 other people in the same room. There was a few fruit flies buzzing about the place. It isn’t the cleanest and just and beaware there is no sheet provided Neither my friend or i who were staying here had a working fan in our capsule. There is an air conditioning unit in the room but unless near the unit it is still humid. Be aware some people may not like the fact that there are no separate male or female toilets/showers. There is a locker provided (remember to bring your own lock) however the locker I had was separated from the next one by a piece of reinforced cardboard The electricity seemed temperamental. All in all I am sure a lot nicer hostels to stay in Kandy. Would not recommend or return

We arrived at the hostel at 15.15. We were waiting at the desk for 5 minutes then taken downstairs to the ‘sleeping area’. There were 5 beds waiting for us; we booked 6 beds. In addition to this one of the beds did not have a curtain! After explaining to the attendant that there are 6 of us and we therefore need 6 beds (the bunks are very small and wouldn’t fit more than one person), he left us to get the manager and returned about 15 minutes later. He explained that he could move one of us elsewhere, which again is unacceptable and not safe! Their second offer was for 2 people to share and only charge for 4 people. Again no! We did not want to share OR pay for 4 people when one of the beds had no curtain, another no fan and one with no light! In the end we decided to just leave and book another hostel. It took 15 minutes to get our deposit back, after much disputing and convincing. Staff and clearly the booking system is disorganised. Would not recommend!

Cozy and comfortable after travelling in the hot weather. Great concept. Clean linen, clean showers and bathrooms. Looked safe. Not so sure about the constant in and out of locals (men) who shouted out loud and took showers whilst the rest of us tried to sleep. Seemed to be friends of whomever was at the reception. Not so great on the safety side.
